Patricia J. Priest
Patricia Priest is a political organizer, writer, and independent radio producer who has written award-winning features, specials, and commentaries for Georgia Public Radio and articles or opinion pieces for the Washington Post, The Atlanta Journal, Electronic Media, and scholarly journals and books. Her work has won awards from the Society of Professional Journalists, the Broadcast Education Association, and the Georgia Associated Press Broadcasters Association.
Priest is a former research analyst at NBC in Burbank. She curated two major retrospectives from the University of Georgia’s Peabody Archives that were showcased at the American Film Institute in Los Angeles and at other venues. She has served as a screening committee member for the Peabody Awards program for 15 years.
Priest’s work in radio includes several years producing a weekly call-in medical show for commercial radio and a series about songwriters for public radio. She has been a media consultant for commercial radio programs and non-profit organizations. She often spearheads fund-raising projects and created a weekly news show for the local NPR affiliate. Priest has more recently turned to build the Democratic party in her heavily Republican county in Georgia.
